Vineyards on Memorial Day

What a lovely day we had. It started out with rain, but by the time we got to the first vineyard in the Tualatin Valley close to Portland, OR the sun broke through and we experienced a day of many flavors, colors and fragrances.
The valleys around Portland are proud to present many of the finest wines and the most spectacular vineyards. The views are astonishing and the wines are known for their fine quality and taste. Memorial weekend is a must for those who like to "jump" around in this pristine landscape savoring the best the earth has to offer. We had a lovely day...

Early Harvest......

Oh the JOY of fresh vegetables! Bob and I head for a vegetable/fruit stand in Gladstone, OR every Saturday and buy these wonderful delicacies. Amazing that a small seed can turn into something so delightful..We're having a simple, yet tasty, dinner tonight.

Along the Willamette River.......

I just happened to come upon the Dedication Ceremony of the "Willamette Terrace/Jon Storm Park" Ceremony while on the way to Portland this morning. This is a breath taking walkway along the Willamette River in Oregon City; Oregon's oldest city. I was thrilled to be a part of the festivities in beautiful sunshine, until rain came when the main ceremony was over. Perfect timing.

Gratulerer med Dagen......Norge

This is the day Norway got its own Constitution as they parted ways with the union with Sweden.
A proud day for Norwegians all over the world, including little ol' me here in Canby, OR, USA...
In honor of the day I have "planted" a few flags with many dear thoughts of loved ones in Norway and also with thoughts of a beautiful country where I had the privilege of being born into.
So Happy Birthday, Norway....
My Norwegian friend, Anna, and I will celebrate the day over lunch this afternoon.

Going Green....? Only once a week...

I have a new friend...I have always wanted a non motorized lawnmower...I do have a gardener who comes once a week to mow the lawn and do other maintenance tasks, but in between those times the lawn has quite a growth spurt and it's hard for me to wait till next time....So I decided to add a helper to my gardening agenda so I could polish the lawn in between the "real cuts"....
It's a sweet little thing isn't it? I takes me back to my childhood, when mowing the lawn with a simple mower was my regular task. Aaaah, sweet...

MY tree is blooming...

This is the progress of MY Dove tree which I wrote about in an earlier blog entry.
This is one small 6 ft "stick" of a tree yet filled with these delightful handkerchiefs....The black center is the flower and those white chiefs started out green and is becoming whiter and whiter as the warmer days move along. They "hug" the center, and savoring this transformation makes me marvel at God's amazing creations.

A Pond in the making

We've had fun seeing the transformation of the "old" pond into this new creation. It's a place of calm and solitude for me and will be for months and years to come.
